Examination Technology
Our office is excited to use the latest in prescription determination. The automated, computerized system that Dr. Wells uses allows her to determine your exact prescription within one degree. Our system also assesses the patient's ability to change focus from far to near and the skills needed to do prolonged work without strain.
We also use an amazing true-color imaging system called EIDON. This specialized system allows high resolution imaging of the back wall of the eye without eye dilation. Additionally, this system has software that allows exact overlay of new images over old ones to track changes in your eyes as time goes by. Not only can we follow things of concern inside your eye over time, we can email you and your other health care providers your images. Dr. Wells will share your images with you during your eye examination.
The auto-refractor is used to help determine a patient's refractive error for eyeglasses or contact lenses. It is a painless procedure and does not require your feedback.
Our visual fields machine will test your peripheral vision. It's just like a video game. While staring at a black spot, you simply click a button whenever you see a change on the screen. This gives Dr Wells a wealth of important information about the back of your eye, the retina in particular.

Lens Technology
In addition to the great advancements in examination technology, there are also new innovations in the manufacturing process involved in eyeglass lens manufacturing.
Standard lens technology allowed us to create a prescription with 1/8th of a diopter of accuracy. With the addition of free-form, and digital surfacing science, the accuracy of your prescription is increased to 1/1,000th of a diopter of accuracy!
What is revolutionary for the progressive lens wearer is that with these new processing procedures, the amount of distortion found in the lenses is reduced to almost nothing. The progressive lenses can now be tailored to your lifestyle, so people who need a lens with more reading are no longer urged to get a larger frame. We will just order the lens with more near...what a novel idea!
For those of us who sit at the computer all day, it is possible to have a progressive with a larger computer distance. The possibilities are endless!
Our entire staff is certified in the latest lens technologies. Rest assured that if you have a question, we will have the answer!
